The Sirmione and Lake Garda area is beautiful and a must see!! I don't know that I would want to stay in the area due to the HIGH tourism (speaking from a tourist, haha). The tour started with a 1 hour bus trip from Verona, depending on traffic, then a 40 minute boat tour of part of the lake.
